Intimate partner violence in Wodonga and Wagga has been identified as an area of community concern due to the devastating impacts it has on local children, individuals and families. Intimate partner violence can take many forms. These include physical, psychological, financial, technological, sexual and spiritual abuse. Only one of these types of abuse is necessary for a relationship to be abusive.

Wodonga Council and the Wodonga Family Violence Taskforce along with Wagga Wagga Council and Wagga Women’s Health Centre have partnered together to seek to reduce incidents of intimate partner violence by addressing the underlying gendered drivers. As such, striving for a respectful and gender equal community Wodonga and Wagga Wagga sees this as a key priority for action.

The Reflect Respect Campaign has been informed by the latest Victorian and NSW research that highlights the importance of respectful relationships and addressing the subtle things we do and say that is contributing to gender inequality in both Wodonga and Wagga.
